Portella Palma — Hotel Feature for Monocle

Portella Palma is a discreet new arrival in the island’s capital, shaped by GRAS Reynés with interiors by Paris-based Festén Architects. The hotel sits in a restored townhouse where proportions stay generous and the materials stay honest. Festen’s palette is deliberately restrained—warm plaster, solid timber, and considered mid-century notes—brought to life by local artisans. Lighting by La Gordiola adds a quiet Mallorcan presence throughout, pairing traditional craft with a more contemporary calm.

My photographs focus on the balance between structure and softness: the clarity of GRAS Reynés’ architectural lines and the lived-in ease of Festén’s interior language. The result captures a place that feels rooted, relaxed, and designed to age well.

Portella Palma, Identity by Mucho Barcelona

Mucho’s identity for Portella Palma takes the hotel’s architectural restraint and turns it into a clear visual system. Their work avoids gestures and instead leans on proportion, typography, and material choices that echo the building’s fabric. Signage, stationery, and digital touch points follow the same logic—quiet, functional, and unmistakably Mediterranean without slipping into cliché.

The images document how the identity behaves across the property: from brass lettering softened by afternoon light to tactile print pieces that sit  comfortably alongside the craftsmanship inside. It’s branding that doesn’t need to perform loudly to hold its ground.
